Privacy

How we handle your personal information. Last updated October 2026.

This notice explains what personal information SG Xpress Jamaica Limited (“SG Xpress”, “we”) collects, why we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It covers sgxpressja.com, your SG Xpress account and app, and how you deal with us at our branches, on WhatsApp, by phone and by email.

Who we are

SG Xpress Jamaica Limited, 28 Church Street, Montego Bay, Jamaica. For any privacy question or request, email info@sgxpressja.com or call (876) 879-4816.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, pickup branch, SGX number and password.
  • Customs information: your Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) and, where required, government-issued identification. Jamaica Customs requires these to clear goods imported on your account.
  • Shipment information: tracking numbers, package contents, weights, invoices and receipts you upload, and delivery and pickup records.
  • Payment records: what you paid, when and how. We do not store credit or debit card numbers.
  • Messages: what you send us through the contact form on this website (name, email, phone, SGX number and your message), WhatsApp, email or phone.
  • Job applications: your name, email, phone, parish, cover note and CV when you apply through our Careers page.
  • Branch photos and video: images taken in our branches, as described in our Terms.
  • Website usage: if we have website analytics switched on, Google Analytics records pages visited, buttons clicked (such as Sign up, WhatsApp and Call), searches on our FAQs page, and general device and location information. It does not tell us who you are.

Why we use it

  • To open and run your account and give you your US and China shipping addresses.
  • To receive, ship, clear and deliver your packages, including preparing customs declarations.
  • To bill you, take payment and keep financial records.
  • To answer your questions and send updates about your packages.
  • To prevent fraud and meet our legal duties, including anti-money laundering and customs rules.
  • To send news and promotions. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
  • To consider you for jobs you apply for and, if you agree, for future openings.
  • To understand how people use our website so we can improve it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to provide our service or where the law requires:

  • Jamaica Customs and other government agencies: for clearance, permits and lawful requests from authorities.
  • Shipping partners and warehouses: in the United States and China, and the airlines, shipping lines and carriers that move your packages.
  • Delivery agents: when you ask for delivery, or someone you authorise to collect for you.
  • Service providers: who host our systems, send our emails and provide website analytics, under instructions to protect your information.
  • Law enforcement: where we are legally required to, or to protect our staff, customers or property.

Because we ship from the United States and China, some of your information is handled in those countries.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open and afterwards for as long as needed to meet customs, tax and accounting record-keeping rules and to resolve claims or disputes. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your request. Job applications and CVs are kept only as long as needed for recruitment, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

Access to customer information is limited to staff who need it for their work. Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Please keep your own password private: see “Registration and Passwords” in our Terms.

Cookies

Our public website does not need cookies to work. If website analytics is switched on, Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits. Staff who sign in to the website's admin area receive a cookie that keeps them signed in.

Your rights

Under Jamaica's Data Protection Act, 2020 you can:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to stop using your information for marketing.
  • In some cases, object to how we use your information or ask us to delete it.

To make a request, email info@sgxpressja.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner.
